Welcome to my homepage. I would like to introduce myself as a concert organist, chamber musician and
choirmaster.
After several years as organist at the ancient abbey church in Løgumkloster I am now appointed organist at the royal Chapel at Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød. I am the director of the musical activities at services and concerts, and I am responsible for the Frederiksborg Chapel Choir, and I am privileged due to the fact that I can freely dispose of the three outstanding organs of the church: the main organ, built by P.G. Andersen in 1972, the newly restored Marcussen Organ of 1864 and the famous and historical Compenius Organ, built in the year of 1610.
With the basis of my work as an organist in mind I always aim at setting aside time for concert tours. It is very exciting and inspiring to travel and to play for a new audience. To be allowed making music in the great cathedrals is a fantastic experience! But at the same time I have realised that it can be just as inspiring to play for an enthusiastic audience in a small village
church.
Throughout the years I have made innumeral appearances across northern and central Europe and USA. Among the highlights I would like to
mention:
- an organ concert at one of the world’s most famous organs, the
Cavaille Coll organ at St. Sulpice, Paris,
- a concert in Moorestown, New Jersey as a soloist with The New Jersey
Chamber Symphony in Haydn’s organ concerto in D major,
- and a violin/organ concert in a crowded village church in Ejerslev,
Mors (Denmark).
In addition to the organ concerts I have had the pleasure of being a soloist with different symphony
orchestras, both as an organ player (Händel og Haydn: Organ concertos, Bruch: Suite for organ and
orchestra) and as a harpsichord player (works of Bach and Heiller).
The concerts as an organ soloist are exciting. But a very large part of my concerts have also included working together with other
musicians: choirs, singers, violin, trumpet, flute etc. To perform with other musicians adds extra and mutual inspiration as well as a variation in the concert
programme, everything to the great delight of the audience. I always appreciated these concerts and during the past years my most important
"musical
friends" were the violinist Jochen
Brusch and the soprano Anne Hye-Mi Shin.
My repertoire covers a wide field – from renaissance to contemporary music and among many composers. I would like to mention Bach,
Buxtehude, Bruhns, Flor, Couperin, Grigny, César Franck, Reger, Hindemith,
Messiaen, Alain, Langlais, Hartman, Gade, Langgaard, Peter Møller, Tage Nielsen.
Through periods I worked intensively with the Northern German baroque
music, which among other things resulted in CD-recordings, containing the complete organ works of Nicolaus Bruhns and Georg Böhm. (For further information look up
"Recordings").
Furthermore, during a study in France in 98/99 I worked with French baroque music and the very special French baroque version of the Gregorian
chant. At present I am preparing a recording of Nicolas de Grigny’s complete organ works with the matching
chants.
